Chicago (August 8, 2011)– Chicago resident Rochelle Crump is one of five finalists selected for General Motors’ Our Town, Our Heroes program due to her work with the National Women Veterans United, and organization that honors service women and female veterans. Beginning August 8, the public is encouraged to vote for their favorite hero at DrivingtheMidwest.com . The hero will be announced on August 14, 2011. Crump’s friend Sharon Buchanan nominated her for the Our Town, Our Heroes program, describing her as a true champion of our nation’s veterans by working tirelessly to ensure that all veterans are treated with respect and have access to all entitlements.

Volunteer with CVO June 11, 2011
CVO is calling on volunteers to come out Saturday, June 11th from 11 AM to 1 PM at 348 East 77th Street in Chicago. We are going to clean up a house that will become transitional housing for homeless veterans. The work will be light. Hamburgers and hot dogs with soft drinks and water will be served to the volunteers.

Form up on Wacker Dr between Franklin and Wells
no later than 11:30 AM.
CVO is number 153 in the parade.

■Where State St. from Lake St. to Van Buren State St. & Lake St. Chicago, IL 60602 (map)
■Description The parade will step off at 12:00 pm and proceed south on State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren Street.
This year's Grand Marshal will be General Raymond T. Odierno, United States Army, Commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command.
